The following events appear to have occurred simultaneously (within the experimental errors of the age measurements) around 100,000 years ago: the last high stand of sea level; the temperature peak of the last interglacial stage; and a change in the rates of sedimentation in certain open ocean deposits. The sedimentation rates were greater during the warm interglacial period than during the cooler glacial periods.
