Temperature records collected off San Diego, California, in 1955, have been analyzed for internal waves. The spectrum of periods from 1 to about 19 min was examined. Little energy appears at frequencies above 0.5 cycle/min with a peak indicated at a frequency lower than the lower limit of the analyzed band. Internal waves in spring were higher than those measured at the same locality during the summer. The low amplitude waves are approximately Rayleigh‐distributed but the significance of this cannot be determined on the basis of the limited data used.
