The effect of adding Tween 80 to water from Fisher’s Island Sound was studied. Spread and pour platings, using media with and without yeast extract, showed highest counts by the spread technique, corroborating previous work. Tween 80 at 20 ppm was inhibitory; at 10 ppm showed only irregular increases, in contradiction to the findings with California waters.
