When the heat budget is applied to determine the evaporation from a lake of varying volume, the water budget must be considered. Using the continuity of the system a modified equation for evaporation from the heat budget has been developed. The modified equation has a term in the denominator that includes a base temperature used in the calculations. This equation is flexible in use and permits minimizing errors due to unknown quantities in the water budget.
