In 2004, the Federal Agency for Forestry launched the\udinternational contest for the young foresters, with the\udunanimous support of the Government of the Russian\udFederation, of all the forestry companies, the FAO\ud(Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations\ud), and a large number of governmental and nongovernmental\udorganizations.\udThe International Contest of the Young Foresters\udtakes place annually in important cities, like Moscow\udor Saint Petersburg. Romania has been invited to all of\udthe editions and took part for the first time in 2011, at\udthe 8th edition.\udThe contest aims at enhancing the students’ knowledge\udof topics like forest protection, sustainable forest\udmanagement, the effective use of wood resources\udbased on the current scientific methodology, etc.\udThis year’s contest, held between September 4 and\ud9, gathered also us, Cezara Gherasim and Alexei\udJosan, first-year and second-year students respectively,\udrepresenting the Romanian team.\udOur project – “The dynamic of the Hylobius Abietis’\udcapture using traps with synthetic attractants in new vs.\udold floors”- had the purpose to identify/develop techniques\udof protecting the conifer seedlings against weevils’\udattacks and to confirm the scientists’ researches.\udThe time spent in Russia has been an opportunity for\udus to visit Saint Petersburg, to meet new people of different\udnationalities, and to make wonderful memories\udwith amazing people. The whole experience has been a\udchance to grow professionally, while gaining self-confidence
