Cresterea contributiei padurilor la stocarea bioxidului de carbon prin masuri adecvate de gospodarire: o pan-europeana

The paper summarizes the methodological background and the main\udoutcomes of the FORMIT project (Forest Management Options for Enhancing\udthe Mitigation Potential for European Forest), an FP7 undertaking run by\udWageningen University and employing 11 participants (research institutes and\uduniversities). Because this research note was published before having the final\uddeliverables approved by the Commission we have confined our presentation the\udmethodological challenges the project team had to dealt with and the main results\udof the Life Cycle Assessment component, which is by far the most interesting\udand provocative contribution of the project to drafting a post-Kyoto agenda for\udforestry. Because many results are based on a very consistent use of rough data\udcoming from national forest inventories, and the Romanian partner had not made\uduse of a great deal of data which might have contributed to a better evaluation of\udthe growth potential of Romanian forests, the methodological background was\udthoroughly explained in Romanian language
