This article deals with the way the realm of the religious is changing. Today, many researchers can see that modern societies speak to people by encouraging them to express their taste. We can thus recognise the presence of the value of authenticity in modern society, a value that emphasises the ability to speak and make decisions about things that concern us and to do so without being swayed by any outside influence. The consequences of the search for authenticity are visible in the field of religion as well. First, we have to point out the fact that religion is becoming increasingly individualised and privatised. Second, speaking about oneself is coming to the forefront, enabling the individual to search for a personal experience of God’s presence in his/her life and to make the experience of the Holy Rule faster, simpler and more accessible. Finally, the effects of this search for authenticity are manifested as an individual’s demand for inner religiousness. The same laws of evolution also apply in Slovenia, which (according to the results of the Valeus and ISSP polls) is also under the influence of increasing religious individualisation where the main focus is the search for a personal experience of God’s presence in our earthly life
