SUMMARY Weaning of the patients\udfrom mechanical ventilation is a clinically\udimportant subject. Recently, applications\udof non-invasive mechanic ventilation (NIV)\udare increasing in post extubation respiratory\udfailure. Studies show that NIV is effective\udin the weaning of chronic obstructive\udpulmonary disease, presenting with\udhypercapneic respiratory failure and in the\udattacks of other chronic respiratory failure,\udbut efficacy and reliability in the other patient\udgroup is limited. NIV must be applied by the\udexperienced team in the selected patient\udgroup
