An accurate assessment of the intravascular volume status in critically ill patients is difficult. Central venous pressure, pulmonary capillary wedge pressure, pulse pressure variation, and stroke volume variation are used to assess intravascular volume status. A functional parameter “mean systemic filling pressure” can be used to assess volume status
