Research concerned with enhancing productivity inworkplaces has considered physical environment as a key issue.Recent trends in workplace design always call for the need to usephysical environment as a tool to encourage productivity. Due to thegrowing evidence which relates physical environment withproductivity, this paper examines employees' satisfaction with theirphysical environment in five rented Saudi workplaces. The research isprompted by the need to demonstrate to Saudi governmentalorganizations that the existing situation of rented workplaces does notprovide employees with enough support to perform their jobseffectively. Results out of five rented workplaces belonging toMunicipality of Makkah revealed some dissatisfaction of differentstaff groups with nine important aspects of physical environment inworkplaces. Satisfaction with Privacy, services and workspace areawere found to be the strongest predictors of overall workplacesatisfaction (OWS). Moreover, employees considered satisfaction withthese predictors as important factors to achieve productivity.
