Realizing the tremendous need for well trained manpower in the country for research and development in biotechnology sector, the focus of the Department of Biotechnology is on creating quality human resources for postgraduate, doctoral and post-doctoral research. This includes: teaching programmes, scholarships, fellowships, industrial training programmes, awards, re-entry grant, etc. In addition, critical mass of desired expertise for biotechnology research is also being created by providing financial support to the investigators for research and development in various disciplines of biotechnology such as medical, agriculture, medicinal and aromatic plants, food and nutrition, environment, marine, veterinary, nanobiotechnology, etc
