Data on the Southern African Black-tailed Tree Rat Thallomys paedulcus (Sundevall, 1846) have been gleaned from a literature survey and are augmented by observations during various spells of field-work in the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park since 1960. Measurements of male and female specimens occurring over its entire geographical range are given as are details of its ecology and taxonomy.
