Different models are necessary in diagnostic research.The efficacy of tests must be studied first in terms of analytical accuracy and diagnostic efficacy, then in terms of clinical impact, where the value of a test is considered in terms of different patient outcomes. The issue of diagnostic efficacy is described here, by taking diagnosis of Helicobacter pylori infection as an example
