Medico e infermiere insieme per una medicina più umana

L’articolo prende in esame la relazione medico-paziente e la sempre più crescente esigenza di una medicina umana. In particolare, l’autore si sofferma sulla figura dell’infermiere, presenza insostituibile al letto del malato e sull’importanza di un’effettiva collaborazione con il medico. Il dialogo medico- infermiere è una risorsa di informazioni, non solo tecniche, importante anche per il medico. L’infermiere è un ponte tra il medico e il malato, tra il medico e i familiari. È colui che, dall’inizio, accoglie il malato nel suo difficile percorso di malattia. La medicina, se vuole essere davvero umana, deve accogliere le parole dei malati, anche quelle che emergono dai libri di letteratura, dal cinema o dall’arte. In primo piano l’esperienza di vita di medici e malati, colta attraverso il processo empatico che l’opera suscita nel lettore. La malattia è vista come condizione esistenziale che chiede al medico anche soltanto di tenere una mano. The article examines the doctor-patient relationship and the growing need for a human medicine. The author focuses particularly on the figure of the nurse, irreplaceable presence at bedside and on the importance of a effective collaboration with doctors. The physician-nurse dialogue is a resource of information, not only technical, but that is also important for doctor. The nurse is a bridge between doctor and patient, between doctor and family. He cares patients, from the beginning, during all his/her difficult course of disease. If medicine intends to be really humane, it must accept the words of the sick, even those from literature, cinema or art. First, the experience of life of doctors and patients, through the process of empathy that the contribute is able to arise. The disease is seen as an existential condition that asks the doctor to stretch his/her hand at least.
