Current analysis comprises reflections on the role of the historian within the growing heritage-building of contemporary society. Besides thinking on the traditional activities of the historian in the definition of material heritage, current essay deals with ethical and political issues of the historian within the context of public policies on non-material heritage that emerges from such a debate
