Estratégias de outremização em The Narrative of Jacobus Coetzee

Analisa-se a segunda novela de Dusklands, do sul-africano J.M. Coetzee, intitulada The Narrative of Jacobus Coetzee, à luz da teoria pós-colonial. O texto narra a expedição frustrada de explorador holandês Jacobus Coetzee às desconhecidas terras da África do Sul, no século XVIII. A aplicação da teoria da outremização revela as estratégias utilizadas para outremizar os nativos, justificar a usurpação das terras e a vingança contra eles. Revela-se o uso de tais estratégias para subjugar o nativo, com o propósito de extrair as riquezas naturais da terra. The second novella of Dusklands, of South African J. M. Coetzee, entitled The Narrative of Jacobus Coetzee, is analyzed in the light of post-colonial theory. The text narrates the frustrated expedition of Dutch explorer Jacobus Coetzee to the unknown lands of South Africa in the 18th century. The theory of othering reveals the strategies used to other the natives, to justify the usurpation of the lands and the revenge against them. These strategies were used to subdue the natives with the purpose of extracting the natural wealth of the land
