« Salvation addiction » : vers une vision post-confessionnelle de la mère dans la poésie de Sharon Olds

Après avoir mis à jour ce que nous entendons par le complexe d’Athéna à l’œuvre dans la poésie de Sharon Olds, cet article se penche sur l’important corpus de poèmes qu’Olds a consacré à la figure de la mère car la manifestation monstrueuse du père dans son œuvre a conduit la critique à s’intéresser de manière exclusive à ses représentations du père. Dans le cadre de cette thématique, l’esthétique d’Olds est contextualisée au sein de la poésie postconfessionnelle aux Etats-Unis. After having outlined what I call the Athena complex thematized in Sharon Olds’s poetry, this article attempts to shed some light on the sizeable number of poems Olds has devoted to mother figures as her monstrous depictions of the father have caused criticism of her work to focus exclusively on representations of the father. Within the framework of this subject matter, Olds’s aesthetic is contextualized by the postconfessional trend in American poetry
