This article presents an analysis of the political discourse linked to sport-related activities in the political parties’ manifestos for the 2011 general elections in Spain. The coding system involves a content analysis of election manifestos and enables the identification of the ideological positions, preferences and main proposals concerning sporting and corporal activities put forward by political parties. The results of the content analysis revealed a homogenised discourse focused on the economics of health and sporting performance which advocated the amalgamation of corporal culture and environmental strategies. However, a number of parties offered a range of alternatives to this dominant approach. The findings highlight the main proposals for political action and hegemonic capital in the field of sport and physical activity
