This paper revolves around the neutro de materia in Castilian language from a diachronic perspective. The distinction between the notion of continuous/ non-continuous in the gender of nouns entails apparently anomalous concordances, not only with adjectives (“lana blanco”), but also in other discourse elements (“la lana lo vendieron”). The neutro de materia was widely extended in both plateaux of Castilia and has been so far studied from a synchronic perspective. The study of this topic is based on the materials of a corpus of unpublished notarial documents of the Golden Century (CorLexIn), which provides both plenty of examples and the possibility to locate them geographically in the past
