The authors analyze the textual tradition linking the Spanish incunabula (1482, 1488, 1489, 1496) to the bilingual edition (Latin-German) of Heinrich Steinhöwel, published in Ulm (1476-1477). Then the authors deal with the medieval tradition of Fables and the Life of Aesop. Finally, they study the portrayals of Aesop in other medieval texts and they explain in detail the symbols that surround the portrait of the fabulist, which could be interpreted as «armas» of Aesop’s fictional life
