From the third century on Christianity became rooted in Hispania as a\udsyncretic religion that appealed mainly to urban oligarchy and high social strata.\udBecause they were the main Christian disseminators and leaders, the Spanish\udchurches lived in perfect harmony with their social environment and that made it\udpossible for them to assume, without traumatic breaks, the political role and\udpolicy of integration previously played by the Roman religion.
