Herophilus was the discoverer of the woman´s “testicles” (nowadays known as “ovaries”) and this author called them δίδυμοι to make a difference between women and men. His new development was accepted by very few medical authors, especially when Dioscorides and Galen bet on ὂρχεις. In this article the values and the field of use of δίδυμοι are researched both from the medical and general Greek literature viewpoints
