The definitions by Apollodorus of these three philosophical legal terms can be reconstructed through Latin sources, where they are translated by quaestio (θέσις), causa (ὑπόθεσις) and negotium (περίστασις). Θέσις would point to the plannings in abstracto, ὑπόθεσις to the circumstantiated ones, and περίστασις to the circumstances. So, Apollodorus is placed between Hermagoras and Cicero
