The linguistic characteristics of Hittite show remarkable differences in relation to the traditional reconstruction of Indoeuropean. Even when certain linguists try to interpret these discrepancies as innovations of Hittite, there is a powerful current of opinion that detects many archaisms in the Anatolian branch
