In these notes we are trying to minimize the discovery of ϝ by Bentley for words with this spelling can be found in Mss. of the Medieval tradition when ϝ was substituted by Γ. In the Hellenistic period ϝ was written and so was ου; through graphic superposition, the scribes came to write ϝγουρἡξεις. The spelling ου/ο instead of ϝ dates from the Hellenistic period
