An analysis of Horatius’ so called diatribic satires is made, according to formal criteria, aiming at abstracting common features which could permit their classification. As a result satires I 1; I 2 and I 10 are grouped together, whereas satire I 3, which generally is studied together with the above mentioned, is excluded
