The articles on daily life which illustrate traditional women in the Semanario Pintoresco Español are an important resource from which to reconstruct the image of women in the 19^th century. This article focuses on one type of woman, the female writer, present in the Semanario and portrayed over subsequent years in the writings of other authors throughout the 19^th century.
