The article analyses the telecoms in the European Union countries. The research has two stages: in the first stage the development of telecommunication sectors in various countries has been analyzed. The second stage of the research embraces the transformation of the EU telecoms in terms of a privatization model applied; consistent patterns of telecoms development are being traced. The authors of the article generalize characteristic features of foreign telecoms development and distinguish phases of globalization. On is basis the forecast of telecoms privatization and development peculiarities in the new EU countries have been performed
