The concept of distance education has been universally accepted as an alternative to the formal teaching. The education which is providing through correspondence as well as through various media and through non- formally, it is known as distance education. In other sense it can be mention that distance education is the method of learning at one’s own pace, in one’s own time, without the boundaries of the formal classroom and without the formal presence of the teacher. The study was conducted in Lakhimpur district of Assam and data were collected from distance learners of PG level following random sampling method. The main purpose of the present study is to identify the effect of socio-economic status on academic achievement of distance learner. Moreover, the present study try to investigate on effect of parental involvement on academic achievement of distance learner. The findings of the study are discussed in detail in the whole paper.
