This tablet is formulated by direct compression method by using natural superdisintegrant such as Hibiscus and Fenugreek for the benefits of agents which make the drug disintegrate rapidly in water by wicking or swelling or by any other mechanisms This type of property in dosage form can be attained by addition of different excipients, from which disintegrant is the key adjuvant. In recent years, several newer agents have been developed known as superdisintegrants. Diverse categories of superdisintegrants such as synthetic, semisynthetic, natural and co-processed blends etc. have been employed to develop effectual mouth dissolving tablets and to overcome the limitations of conventional tablet dosage forms. The objective of this one to be highlight the various kinds of superdisintegrants along with their role in tablet disintegration and drug release. This research focuses on various synthetic superdisintegrants, natural superdisintegrants from different plant sources, co-processed excipients blend and their efficiency. The natural materials like gums, mucilage’s and powders have been extensively used in the field of drug delivery for their easy availability, cost effectiveness, Eco friendliness, emollient and capable of multitude of chemical modifications, potentially degradable and compatible due to natural origin. Due to the presence of superdisintegrants, it dissolves quickly, resulting in the rapid absorption of drug which in turn provides rapid onset of action. Since the absorption is taking place directly from the mouth, So, bioavailability of the drug increases.
