As social beings, individuals exert influence on each other. This influence can beutilized in the sphere of social policy. This paper aims to explore different ways humansociality can be leveraged to improve the implementation of government anti-povertyschemes in India. The paper discusses the role of social recognition, social incentives,and social norms for the delivery of anti-poverty schemes in India. It also exploresways in which social norms can amplify social change and bring shift in behaviourwhich in turn holds power to increase the effectiveness of government anti-povertyschemes.
