This note explores the differences existing in thelevel of per capita income and employment creation in residential andhotel-based tourist destinations. The exercise is conducted on a pool of 136tourist destinations of the Spanish coastline, the Balearic Islands and theCanary Islands. The results point out that in terms of income and employment generationno model clearly outperforms the other.
