The Strategies of Translating “ABB”-construction Adjectives into Russian in “A Dream of Red Mansions”

Синологи уже достаточно детально изучили тему удвоенных прилагательных (редупликация имен прилагательных) по таким моделям, как АА, ААВВ, АВВ, АВАВ, однако сопоставительных исследований, посвященных проблеме перевода удвоенных прилагательных на другие языки, немного, еще меньше анализирующих их перевод на русский язык. В данной статье предпринята попытка классифицировать удвоенные прилагательные, образованные по модели АВВ, и проанализировать форму их выражения в романе Цао Сюэциня «Сон в красном тереме» в первых шестидесяти главах. Автор раскрывает закономерности перевода этих прилагательных и предлагает эффективную стратегию их перевода на русский язык. Sinologists have made a detailed study of various models of overlapping, or “doubled” adjectives: AA, AABB, ABB, ABAB and others, but there is little researchcomparing the overlaps with other languages in terms of theirtranslation, and there is even less researchon the translation of doubled adjrctives into Russian. This paper attempts to classify the ABB varieties of Chinese “doubled” adjectives as the entry pointof research, analyze the ways of their translation in the first 60 chapters of the Russian translation of “A Dream of Red Mansions”, and,hopefully,to summarize the rules and finally put forward the translation strategies.
