In view of the urgent need for air transport adapted for the dropping of personnel by T-11 parachute systems, a study was carried out to obtain the practical results of the equipping of the AN-26 aircraft with aerial-delivery system (hereinafter - ADS) to drop personnel with these systems.
The subject of exploratory tests was the An-26 aircraft, equipped for the droping personnel by T-11 parachute systems manufactured by Airborne Systems (USA).
The State Enterprise "ANTONOV" has equipped the AN-26 with ADS for the dropping of personnel using the T-11 parachute systems.
The following information was used to assess the quality of operation of the An-26 aircraft equipped with ADS: crew team assessments and materials of video recording of the anchor lines behavior of T-11 parachute systems when they entering the air flow in the cargo hatch opening, process of aircraft abandon by parachute-testers, checking the operation of the rescue system of a suspended parachutist, as well as crew team assessments and materials of video recording of the from the An-26 aircraft and ground of the process of abandoning the aircraft by parachute-testers, checking the operation of the rescue system of a suspended parachutist and video recording materials from the L-39 aircraft of the process of aircraft abandon by parachute-testers from An-26.
The results of exploratory tests are as follows:
the possibility and security of dropping personnel with military transport aircraft equipped with ADS for the dropping of personnel be T-11 parachute systems is ensured under verified conditions;
the research materials are sufficient to develop the rules and techniques for airdrops of personnel by the T-11 parachute system with supplements to the An-26 Flight Operations Manual, the An-26 Aircraft Upgrade Bulletin and other regulatory documents.
the specifications and performance of AN-26 pilot sample generally meets "Specifications 140/7/20 PS for the adaptation of ADS of the AN-26 aircraft for the dropping of parachute systems T-11ˮ.
The AN-26 equipped with ADS for the dropping of personnel using the T-11 parachute systems can be approved for use in the State Aviation of Ukraine in the prescribed manner.
