In his study, entitled (Al-Mu’tamid bin Abbad's the Crying Self), the researcher aimed to identify the motives and factors that provoked the poet to lament himself, to state the purposes and goals that stood behind that crying, and Ibn Abbad’s position on the issue of life and death. In investigating this subject, the study relied primarily on the poet’s anthology. It also aimed to probe the depth of his soul while he was in prison waiting for the end of his life, depending in that on the historical method in the investigation of his poems, the technical-analytical method in elucidating the aesthetic values, and the group of artistic images of poetry.
