The concept of digitalization has relatively recently become frequently used in scientific publications and discussion forums. Along with the benefits, digitalization creates certain problems in society. The positive and negative aspects of digitalization of the economy are revealed. Four groups of countries according to the level of dynamics of digitalization development are considered. The influence of large companies on the digital economy is considered. The main trends of digitalization in the world economy are revealed. In order to adapt to new changes, countries are trying to stimulate the development of the industry through active participation in regulating the information technology market, the transition from significant control to market competition, and thus the opportunity to market new IT companies, attract investment. The study of the peculiarities of the regulation of the world market of information technologies, which determines the specifics of informatization of the post-industrial economy, is very relevant. The analysis of digital development has led to several conclusions that will help the leaders of private or public companies seeking to improve the digital economy around the world. The global digital economy is now on the verge of having the same opportunities and risks. There are many obstacles to becoming a “digital planet”. Obviously, this is due to the dynamics of growth of the digital economy in different countries, as well as the systemic nature of digital development management. There is no doubt that the leading and promising countries in terms of digitalization will benefit from the combination of a high level of use of innovative technologies and the participation of government in shaping their digital economy.
