В статье представлены основная идея и организация работы над первой обобщающей книгой о творчестве академика В.Г. Костомарова. Книга, начатая кратким очерком о жизни и научно-педагогической деятельности основателя Института русского языка имени А.С. Пушкина, содержит самый полный список публикаций ученого: 617 работ, опубликованных с 1953 по 2020 г. В статье приведены критические оценки книги авторитетных русистов, высказавших на презентации книги мнения о перспективах работы по изучению наследия В.Г. Костомарова. The article presents the main idea and organization of work on the first generalizing book about the work of Academician V.G. Kostomarov. The book, which began with a short essay on the life and scientific and pedagogical activities of the founder of the A.S. Pushkin, contains the most complete list of the scientist's publications: 617 works published in the period from 1953 to 2020. The article provides critical assessments of the book by authoritative Russian scholars who, at the presentation of the book, expressed their views on the prospects for studying the heritage
