Extracurricular activities as a means of forming of cross-cultural competence of foreign students (the experience of Theater studio in Shenzhen MSU-BIT University)

Обучение иностранцев русскому языку в отсутствие языковой среды требует от преподавателя дополнительных усилий по созданию условий и благоприятной атмосферы не только в ходе занятий, но и во внеурочное время. Один из эффективных способов увлечь студентов и мотивировать их общаться на русском языке после уроков – кружок «Театральная студия». В статье описан успешный опыт работы такой студии в совместном Университете МГУ-ППИ в Шэньчжэне (КНР). Студенты начального этапа обучения участвовали в подготовке спектаклей и с большим энтузиазмом представляли все, чему успели научиться, на сцене, где в полной мере проявлялся их творческий потенциал. При подготовке к постановке пьесы на сцене, разучивании ролей иностранные учащие-ся расширяют свой словарный запас, узнают больше о русской культуре и жизни русских людей. Таким образом они вовлекаются в межкультурный диалог, что повышает их мотивацию к дальнейшему изучению русского языка. Работа над общим проектом в сплоченной команде помогает справляться с трудностями, возникающими во время учебы, делает студентов более уверенными в своих силах. Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language abroad far from language environment and without natural immersion acquires from educator additional efforts to create appropriate conditions and positive atmosphere not only during the lessons but also during extracurricular activities. One of effective ways to attract students’ attention and motivate them to communicate in Russian language after the classes is a theatre studio. The paper describes successful experience of a theatre club in joint MSU-BIT University in Shenzhen (People’s Republic of China). Beginners in Russian language very enthusiastically participated in performances and presented all that they had learnt on the University’s scene where they could fully realize their creative potential. By preparing the performance, learning texts and dialogues by heart foreign students enhance their vocabulary, learn more about Russian culture and Russian people’ lives. Such activity draws the students into cross-cultural communication, increases their motivation to further studying of Russian language. The interaction in the united team and working on a joint project help students to overcome difficulties appearing during their studies, make students to feel more self-assured.
