Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging has shown promise in the detection and quantication of hepatic brosis. In addition, the liver has numerous endogenous micro-RNAs (miRs) that play important roles in the regulation of biological processes such as cell proliferation and hepatic fibrosis.
