Interstitial cells of Cajal (ICCs) are the pacemaker cells that generate slow waves in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. We have aimed to investigate the involvement of mitochondrial Na+-Ca2+ exchange in intestinal pacemaking activity in cultured interstitial cells of Cajal.
