The article analyzes the formation of the agricultural branch of food and raw materials production in the USSR in the period from 1917 to 1991. It is shown that such forms of production as collective farms and state farms were two forms of the economic organism of the new economic structure in agriculture with As revealed in the 21st century, the zigzags and backwardness of political economic theory are explained by two circumstances. One of them is the linking of leading economists and agricultural scientists to Western education and practice. Another is the incompleteness of Marx's teaching and its reliance on the erroneous theory of Liebig.
