El reto de la formación en investigación para el área de ingenierías: un acercamiento a través del programa de Verano Científico / The Challenge of Training in the Area of Engineering Research: an Approach through the Summer Science Program

Universities in Mexico are changing their approach from basic science, to applied research and technological development. In this new paradigm, engineering area that were traditionally technical are increasing their role in the training of human resources of high technological level. The objective of research was to determine the perception of engineering students participants in the program of summer, with the aim of finding the elements that support and/or limit the scientific vocation. The design of the study was not experimental, transectional descriptive, and the technique employed was the survey. The results indicate that slightly more than 50% of the population under study has real interest and only 14% perceived constraints that might discourage it. It is concluded that the stay of investigation in the summer program, allows students to improve their perception of research activities, reflected in the interest to develop a research work or continue with postgraduate studies in their respective areas.RESUMENLas Universidades en México están cambiando su enfoque de ciencia básica a investigación aplicada y desarrollo tecnológico. En este nuevo paradigma, áreas tradicionalmente técnicas como las diversas ingenierías, cobran un rol cada vez más relevante en la formación de recursos humanos de alto nivel tecnológico. El objetivo de investigación fue determinar la percepción de los estudiantes del área de ingeniería participantes en el programa de verano científico sobre los elementos que apoyan y/o limitan la vocación científica. El diseño del estudio fue no experimental, descriptivo transeccional, y la técnica empleada fue la encuesta. Los resultados señalan que poco más del 50% de la población bajo estudio presenta un interés real y sólo un 14% percibe limitantes que podrían desmotivarlo. Se concluye que la estancia de investigación realizada en el programa de verano científico, permite al alumno mejorar su percepción sobre las actividades de investigación, reflejado en el interés por desarrollar un trabajo de investigación y/o continuar con estudios de posgrado en sus respectivas áreas. Contacto principal: jm670324@hotmail.com
