The experience of using various portable gamma cameras during decommissioning and remediation of nuclear facilities at the NRC Kurchatov Institute is summarized. Typical examples of the use of cameras are given, directions for improving their functionality are proposed, prospects for the method of obtaining gamma images and possible new applications of portable gamma cameras are considered.
