In the year of the celebrations of the centenary of the birth of Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen I decided to go to meet the poet through the artistic and aesthetic creation of the still very young João César Monteiro. The documentary, with the name of the poet, is the first movie by João César Monteiro and it shows how the filmmaker likes to work without safety net.João’s work goes back and forth between poetry and reality, imagination and the palpable, Sophia and the People, the cult and the popular. The sublime and the trivial is no more than a play of mirrors, a play between Sophia’s and João’s artistic expressions.
