The article presents the results of the analysis of theoretical studies and practical activities devoted to the study of the features of creating a special educational environment in compensatory groups for preschoolers with severe speech impairment. The concept of a special educational environment, its components, as well as the requirements for their organization in order to ensure the cognitive and speech development of children are considered.
