The article analyses a range of techniques shaping the literary canon in V. Nabokov’s Russian lyric works. Vivid examples illustrating the correlation of seemingly different concepts, such as «creativity» and «science», are presented. A selective pantheon of classic authors is represented by the images of an index card and a butterfly collection. It is concluded that the inclusion or omission of writers’ names in Nabokov’s lyric works is a way of including these authors in the canon or a way of excluding them from it.
