The article is devoted to the analysis of Osama Tezuka’s manga “Crime and Punishment”, based on the novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky. The study describes the mechanism of the intersemiotic translation of the novel genre into the space of manga. The purpose of the work is to consider the manga of Osama Tezuka simultaneously in the light of two approaches: literary and linguistic. The authors regard the work of a Japanese author as a creolized text. The leading role in it is played not by the verbal component, but by the pictorial one. The subject of analysis is the specific features of manga - polycode and performativity. The results of the research can find application in the practice of analyzing Dostoevsky’s novel as additional material.
