The article examines the attitude of V. I. Maikov to the philosophical category of hope on the example of the ode of the same name, which reflects the moral and ethical search of the poet-mason: faith in absolute happiness through hope for the best. The article highlights the categories of people that can be divided into groups. The first group includes people whose hope is connected with the state, and the second group includes those who hope for personal good. The analysis examines the Masonic ideology, which in Russia is closely intertwined with Christianity, examines the artistic expression of the philosophical category of hope in V. I. Maikov's ode, and reveals the connection of this category with the concepts of happiness and faith. As a result of the research, some images-symbols of the ode associated with the Masonic views of the poet are concretized, the moral and philosophical motives of the ode and the anthropological essence of the category of "hope" in the view of the Russian.
