40 years after the 'founding' of the A.A. School (Applied Arts) of Vitoria/Gasteiz, we reflect on its origins as a private and recognized center, then inserted within the School of Arts and Crafts. We review some relevant pedagogical facts of that initial phase, particularly the experimental Teaching Project. The School's Paraninfo (large multi-purpose hall) hosted various exhibition experiments with the students, preparatory to their participation in some artistic actions applied to the city, in complicity with the City Council. The study involved the first 7 academic years, until in 1986 the Basque Government granted it official status, later assuming its management. The A.A. School has had several names and locations that have given it character. We reconsider that pedagogical material, supported by the bibliography of the time that we also contribute.
