The socio-cultural reality of modern Russia is considered through the lens of the complex of characteristics of the “society of trauma”. The search for ways to get out of the “society of trauma” leads to an understanding of the phenomenon of the social state, which is intended to regulate social distances, to find a balance of justice, shape a person’s space as worthy of life. This reveals the humanistic essence of the social state.
